What They're Saying

Grove Park's Junior Golf Clinic ha been such as asset to our son. It has given him something to look forward to during the summer and continues to keep him focused on his future dreams. The coaches also have played such a great part in him becoming a respectful young man.

The camp really made my son excited about the sport of golf. The camp also served as a self-esteem booster for him.

My kids really enjoyed coming to the clinic and always look forward to coming back.

The Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic is an outgrowth from caddies who worked or caddied for golfers who played golf at Jackson Country Club, Continental Country Club,
Sonny Guy Golf Club and Grove Park Golf Course. These
caddies taught others caddies how to caddy and to
play the game. From these caddies’ teachings, we have professional golfers and caddies, golf course supervisors (golf pros), amateur golfers, and recreational golfers.
The pro golfer’s category is represented by Pete Brown, John Henry Harris, and Jessie Allen. The professional caddy’s category is represented by Robert Fox, Dolphus “Golf Ball” Hull, Melvin “C-Moore” Johnson, and Orlando “Scottie” Scott. The golf course supervisor (Golf Pro)’s category is represented by Pete Brown, Walter “Dutch” Welch, Willie “Wise” Dunson, and Walter “Jefro” Jenkins. The amateur golfer’s category is represented by Luther Thompson, Carrie Smith Jones, Joe “Big Joe” Lane, and Tommie C. Henderson. The recreational golfer’s is represented by Bobby Ward, Gloria Stamps, Janice Coleman, Juanita M. Norwood, and Charles “C. B.” Barnes. From these categories of golfers, organizations were created: The Nine Irons, Grove Park Duffers, Lady Putters, Lady Drivers and Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic.

This website was designed to bring attention to the need for exposing our young people-- male and female--to the world of golf.  Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic's purpose is to educate our youth and to aid them in the development of core characteristic traits -- citizenship, commitment, honesty, self-discipline, respect, responsibility, setting goals, tenacity -- that the game of golf teaches. Also we strive to teach them how to make correct choices and sound decisions. When teaching the game of golf, students will gain confidence in themselves, tolerance for others and perseverance to all tasks. As student learn these traits and skills, it will become a part of the everyday lives.

We hope that you will enjoy browsing through the pages. We also hope that you will gain insight toward aiding our efforts as we strive to increase youth's interest in the game, to develop golfing fundamentals, and to build golfing techniques and skills.
